Boy, 6, dies after falling from second floor
A 6-year-old boy fell to death yesterday afternoon from his second-floor home on Beidi Road in Minhang District, according to news website eastday.com.
The boy, surnamed Chen, had no heartbeat and was not breathing on the ambulance and was pronounced dead after arriving at the hospital.
The boy was with his grandmother when the disaster happened. The old woman said she was cooking food in their rented apartment and it was during her short absence that the boy climbed over the corridor banister and fell.
The boy just came from Anhui Province to spend the Labor Day holiday with his parents in Shanghai, the report said.
His parents kept blaming the grandmother for the boy's death and the old woman banged her head against the wall in grief and remorse.
