Brighter days ahead as clouds start to clear
THE sky will start to brighten as the sun chases away the rain clouds by this Sunday, according to the city's weatherman.
Last week's average temperature was only 27.8 degrees Celsius, the lowest for the period in the past five years. The past 20 days were supposed to be the hottest days of the year in China's traditional weather pattern.
The daily high temperature is expected to rise to 30 to 34 degrees Celsius this Sunday.
Rain and cloud dominated the tone of the past few weeks, raining 13 days in 14, rendering the city 292.1 millimeters of rain. The figures were unprecedented in the 136 years since record keeping began, reported the Oriental Morning Post.
Weather experts said lingering cold air masses confronting warm air over the city caused the abnormally long period of rainy days, according to the report.
