Building schools
SHANGHAI was paired with the severely damaged Dujiangyan last June and the Shanghai Education Commission soon came up with a three-year plan to help rebuild education facilities in the city.
The first batch of 60 volunteer teachers left on August 27 to help Du°?jiangyan for one year.
Restoring normal routines, especially education, was seen as key to help the city's recovery and reassure traumatized children and adults.
Students will soon move into new school buildings as 23 school reconstruction projects aided by Shanghai are expected to be completed by the start of this fall semester, on September 1.
The Shanghai Education Commission will send a further 60 teachers to Dujiangyan each year during the three-year project.
