Burglary warning for householders
CITY police remind people to lock both doors and windows before leaving their homes.
Police said most burgled houses had old locks and some had no anti-burglar doors.
Recently three burglars were detained for raiding an apartment in Songjiang. Police said they broke into an apartment using lock picks and stole a laptop. Songjiang District police said they detained more than 540 burglary suspects this year.
According to the police, 60 percent of suspects entered through a door and 40 percent through a window.
Among those involving windows, 70 percent had been left open.
Such cases rarely involved houses with modern locks or anti-theft doors, police said.
