Cab scam alleged
SHANGHAI police said they had detained a driver of an illegal taxi for a series of scams where he switched passengers' bank notes with fake ones and their transportation cards with empty ones.
Police said that on February 14 a resident claimed his friend was scammed by the suspect, surnamed Zhao, in his taxi four days earlier. Six of the victim's 100-yuan (US$16) notes were switched to forged ones and a public transportation card of his, worth 300 yuan, was also switched with an empty one.
