Cabbie held in detention for blocking traffic

A taxi driver was punished with a five-day detention for blocking a road with his car in suburban Songjiang District after he was caught running a red light, police said today.
The unidentified cabbie was caught running a red light at the intersection of Ledu Road and Renmin Road during morning rush hour on March 16, police said.
He was stopped by traffic police at the intersection of Rongle Road and Renmin Road. Instead of complying with the officer, he locked his car in the middle of the road and walked away, causing congestion in the area for about 30 minutes.
His car was towed away by a trailer and he was detained by police on March 27.
