Call for boldness in commerce integration

Shanghai should be bolder in integrating its commerce resources, innovative in promoting differentiated retailing, as well as use technology more efficiently to cement the city’s position as a commerce center in China, a senior official said yesterday.
“The city should be bolder in innovation, transformation and upgrading of its commerce industry,” Shang Yuying, chairwoman of the Shanghai Commerce Commission, said yesterday at a retailers’ conference.
She urged retailers to work in integrating resources and offering differentiated services to avoid overlapping building of shops and business clusters.
She also suggested smarter management and increased use of advanced technology such as cloud computing and mobile Internet to strengthen retailers’ overall competitiveness.
She suggested more collaboration between physical shops and online retailers.
