Cars vandalized in Pudong
DOZENS of cars' windshields were smashed and the contents inside were stolen this week in several residential areas in the Pudong New Area, police said.
At least 21 cars were damaged since Sunday. The suspects are still at large. Six of the damaged cars were parked inside the residential compounds while the rest were parked on the street, police said.
Patrols have been intensified in the area and the total value of all the damage was still under investigation. Most of the attacked cars were reported around the neighborhood of Lane 1200 on Bei'ai Road.
Early Wednesday morning, six cars parked in the neighborhood were found with smashed windshields. "I saw these broken cars when I left home early in the morning," a resident said. "I really hope the patrolling of the neighborhood can be intensified."
The same situation occurred around Lane 155 on Bei'ai Road, with four cars attacked in that residential area, and in Lane 2399 on Chengshan Road, where security guards said they saw the suspects stealing but failed to catch them.
"We saw them," said a guard. "We chased them and called our colleagues for help but they kept running and we didn't make it."
