Cartier wins 180,000 yuan for infringement
CARTIER will be compensated a total of 180,000 yuan (US$29,008) by three Chinese companies which infringed on the luxury giant's trademark in slogans to promote their products through a Shanghai-based online supermarket, the Pudong New Area People's Court ruled yesterday.
The three companies are Beijing Huixin Tianyuan Technology and Trade Co, Beijing Mengkela Technology Co and Shanghai Yishiduo E-commerce Co. Cartier said it found the two Beijing companies were using promotional words such as "Cartier's Classic Style" and "Cartier included" in their advertisements of their jewelry products on sale at the online supermarket and brought the case to court in July.
It also sued Shanghai Yishiduo, operator of Yihaodian online supermarket, for publishing the ads in question, the court said.
Cartier had demanded a total of 1.1 million yuan in compensation.
