Cartoon movie ‘A Jewish Girl in Shanghai’ released
Hongkou District government today released a cartoon movie about the Jewish refugee’s life in Shanghai during the Word War II.
The movie named A Jewish Girl in Shanghai tells a story about a Jewish family and their Shanghai neighbors in 1930s based on the stories of many Jewish refugees.
The playwright Wu Lin went to Israel twice to interview former refugees in Shanghai to create the story, according to the district government.
The movie was released today along with many posters of old local movies about the World War II.
People can watch the movie at the Jinyi IMAX Theatre at the Cloud Nine mall in Hongkou.
About 23,000 Jews who fled Nazi-occupied Europe found shelter in Shanghai during the war.
