Chilly start to holiday season
A FREEZING start to the Lunar New Year is predicted by Shanghai weathermen, with temperatures on Saturday and Sunday set to hover around zero degrees Celsius.
Strong winds are also predicted for New Year's Eve on Saturday, Shanghai Meteorological Bureau said today.
However, despite winds of up to 61 kilometers an hour over the weekend, the skies will be clear.
On Monday to Tuesday, it will be overcast with showers, and temperatures hovering between 2 to 5 degrees. From Wednesday on it will be mainly cloudy and cold.
Yesterday Shanghai recorded a daytime high of 21 degrees, the warmest day of the year so far.
