China Eastern cancels flights to Japan as typhoon nears

CHINA Eastern Airlines today cancelled 10 flights to Japan due a strong typhoon on route to Japan, the carrier announced today.

It advised passengers to return tickets for flights to the Japanese cities of Osaka, Nagoya and Toyama and there will be no refund charges.

"Passengers are also advised to postpone their trips to Japan because of the approaching typhoon," China Eastern said on its website today.

Passengers can call the airline's hotline 95530 for inquiry.

Guchol, this year's fourth tropical storm, has been upgraded to a super typhoon as it gathers strengthen on its way from the West Pacific to Japan, the China Meteorological Administration said. But it is unlikely to affect Shanghai.
