Chinese tourists to receive free goodies when visiting Japanese city

THE Osaka Convention and Tourism Bureau will give away free subway passes and free admission to a number of popular tourist spots in a bid to attract more Chinese tourists to the famous Japanese city, it was announced in Shanghai today.

The bureau has inked an agreement with online travel operator Ctrip, and the coupons will be distributed on the platform in September.

The tickets will be included with free one or two-day tour packages. After tourists receive their packages, they will be able to take all Metro lines in Osaka free-of-charge, and enjoy free admission to the most famous scenic spots of the Japanese city including Osaka Castle and the Umeda Sky Building, according to the bureau.

Hotels in Osaka will also offer discounts for Chinese tourists.

Japan has been among the most popular overseas tourist destinations for Chinese for years. In the first half of this year, Osaka received 5.31 million foreign tourists, a large number of whom were Chinese, the bureau said.
