THE Poland Pavilion is holding a series of cultural performances to mark the 200th anniversary of Polish composer Fryderyk Franciszek Chopin's birth.
The performances include a ballet, "Chopin - The Romantic Artist," and a performance, "Chopin for Five Pianos," by five distinguished Polish jazz pianists at the Europe Square this afternoon.
Translation slam
Literary event "The Blue Metropolis Translation Slam" will take place in English at the Canada Pavilion tomorrow, and in Mandarin at the Shanghai Writers' Association on Tuesday. The event will feature Canadian poet A. F. Moritz reading one of his poems and Yu Shi and Lien Chao reading their translations of his work.
The very different versions will highlight the art of literary translation and the difference a translator can make.
