SHANGHAI has banned the use of entrapment and private agents in law enforcement in a new regulation.
The regulation also bans fines used to reward law enforcement officials and fees charged for storing confiscated goods.
"The rule cuts off the interest chain in law enforcement misconduct cases," said an official surnamed Chen with the Shanghai Government Legislative Office.
Those violating the regulation will face warnings or dismissal, Chen said.
The city government put forward an official rule to regulate law enforcement behavior on Tuesday after a few misconduct cases.
The government is now distributing the paper to all law enforcement teams including the traffic watchdog.
