LOCAL citizens will be presented a series of cultural events in celebration of China's national Cultural Heritage Day, which falls Saturday this week.

This year's celebration will display the city's efforts and achievements in protection of cultural heritage in the passing 10 years, according to the officials from the Shanghai Administration of Culture, Radio, Film and TV.

At the cultural center of Yangpu District, an exhibition of 180 or so exquisite handmade sachets from local residents will provide people an insight into the age-old traditions and customs of the Dragon Boat Festival.

A new batch of the city's intangible cultural heritage will also be announced on Saturday. The annual festival has been commemorated on the second Saturday of June since 2006.
