City police detain 9 suspects for multiple burglaries
SHANGHAI police said today they had detained nine people in Nanjing, Jiangsu Province, who are suspected of committing more than 20 burglaries in the Yangtze Delta Region.
The gang, led by a suspect surnamed Chen, confessed to police that they had committed more than 20 burglaries in Shanghai, Hangzhou and Nanjing, according to officers. Shanghai's Hongkou District police said the gang stole valuables worth more than 600,000 yuan (US$95,802).
Shanghai police started investigating the case after January 24, when the suspects twice broke into a residential area on Wenshui Road E. and stole watches and diamond rings worth 400,000 yuan, police said.
