City safer due to ‘intelligent measures’
INFORMATION and intelligent measures have played a vital role in making Shanghai a safer city, Gong Daoan, director of the public security bureau, said yesterday.
This year, the number of criminal cases have dropped 16.6 percent from the same period last year, while the detention rate has risen 5.8 percent, he said.
Homicide cases in Shanghai have been cleared up 100 percent for three consecutive years.
The numbers of road accidents and related deaths and injuries have dropped sharply, thanks to the use of intelligent technology.
The numbers of fires and related casualties have also declined by 50.6 percent and 39.7 percent, respectively, since 2013.
