City stabbing suspect caught in Shanxi
SHANGHAI police have caught a suspect who allegedly stabbed and killed a waiter at a McDonald's in Xujiahui two weeks ago.
The man surnamed Yang, who fled the city after the stabbing, was caught at 2am in Taiyuan, Shanxi Province yesterday, Shanghai Public Security Bureau said.
Yang was sent under escort back to Shanghai this morning.
Shanghai police said they are cracking down on all kinds of crimes as strongly as usual and warned residents not to violate the law.
Yang allegedly stabbed 22-year-old part-time employee Li Feng on March 19.
Li was trying to stop Yang sleeping in the restaurant in Tianyaoqiao Road when Yang attacked him with a fruit knife, colleagues said earlier.
Li suffered three wounds in his neck, shoulder and liver and was pronounced dead in hospital.
Li's parents said he was a diligent boy who worked two jobs to support the family.
