City to hold new population sampling survey

THE 2015 population sampling survey is being held from November 1 to 15 in Shanghai, said the city’s statistics bureau.

The survey is going to involve 700,000 residents – or 3 percent of the total population in Shanghai – in 218 neighborhoods around the city, aiming at getting a general image of Shanghai residents’ identity information.

Survey staff would visit the households during the two weeks and complete the survey through digital devices. Information to be provided by the surveyed include name, age, ethnic group, education background, occupation, property, social security and marriage state, etc.

Foreigners and those from Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan are not included into this time’s survey.
