City weather bureau takes sweet approach to forecasts
THE city's meteorological bureau has found a primary school student's proposal on weather symbols too sweet to resist.
The Shanghai Meteorological Bureau said it will adopt the student's "lively" idea of using candy as symbols for different types of weather.
The new symbols will include a marshmallow for cloudy weather, a sparkling water candy for rain, and a popping candy for hail, the bureau said. It did not say when they would start using the new symbols.
The candy suggestion came from primary school student Chen Chen.
Weather forecasters also said they will adopt other public suggestions like adding wind force and humidity levels to forecasts.
