City will build more facilities for sports
MORE public sports facilities will be built by the end of this year, authorities said yesterday.
Eleven more public sports centers, which include tennis and basketball courts, will be completed this year as part of a five-year plan, the Shanghai Sports Bureau said.
In the past seven months, the bureau has built 29 sports centers, covering 46,200 square meters, that include 64 courts, the bureau said.
Li Weiting, deputy director of the bureau, said yesterday morning that the city is promoting sports as a way for people to get more daily exercise.
Li said that more facilities are needed in communities in order for sports to become a part of people's daily lives.
