City鈥檚 1st government-based lab for quality test of purifiers to offer free indoor air tests
THE city’s first government-based laboratory to carry out third-party quality test of air purifiers will be established mid this month at Shanghai Industrial Technology Institute, officials said yesterday.
The laboratory will imitate various air pollutants in indoor condition to test the effects of domestic-made purifiers. “We will also offer free testing to local people’s indoor air quality after the laboratory starts working and give guidance to the public proper measures to improve indoor air quality,” said Liu Wenbo, director of the institute’s green energy department.
“We will release hotline number late this month to receive people’s consultation and application for free indoor air quality check.”
China has become the biggest purifier producer and exporter in the world. The domestic demand for air purifier is rising along people’s rising awareness on air pollution and smog.
“We will do independent testing on purifiers and announce the result for public,” Liu said. “Based on data from our laboratory, we will cooperate with the industry association to work out regulations to ensure product quality.”
