City's CPC session to have greater diversity
A total of 810 delegates elected from the city's 1.82 million Party members will attend the plenary session of the Shanghai Party Congress that begins tomorrow at the Expo Center.
The five-day session will hear the current Shanghai Committee of the Communist Party of China deliver a report on its work over the past five years. A new committee and a new discipline inspection commission will be elected.
More delegates to the Party plenary session will be working professionals, while women and ethnic minorities delegates will also increase, Feng Xiaomin, deputy director at the organization department of the CPC Shanghai Committee, said yesterday.
Among the delegates, 288 are working professionals, 35.6 percent of the total; 300 are female and 23 are ethnic minorities. Proportions of the three groups are all higher than at the previous session, Feng said.
