City's first tram service opens
A TRAM service will start tomorrow along a 9.8-kilometer route around Pudong's Zhangjiang High-Tech Park, the first of its kind in Shanghai.
Trams will run from 5:45am through 11pm every day to transport passengers from the Zhangjiang Metro station to industrial, research and living zones throughout the park, with 15 stops, today's Shanghai Morning Post reported.
Eight trams will run along the line, with intervals between 10 minutes to 20 minutes.
Tickets will cost 2 yuan, the same as public buses, and one-yuan reduction will be offered to those transferring from other buses and Metro lines within 90 minutes.
Residents aged over 70 will get a free ride every day between 9am and 5pm.
The line has been in trial operation since July.
