City's innovative drum show displaying 'Chinese Dream' to be staged in LA

THE new innovative drum art performance of Shanghai Academic Drum House, an original show that displays fabulous "Chinese Dream" will be staged at Shrine Auditorium, Los Angeles on September 13.

The drum show entitled "Beyond-Feelings" is invited to perform at a series event in Los Angeles to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese People's War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression and World War II.

The series event includes seminar, conference, cultural performances and exhibitions.

Artistic blue and white porcelain drums and stunning traditional costumes will be featured in the show.

Excerpts of the modern Peking Opera "Red Detachment of Women" and the "Yellow River Cantata" will also be developed into drum art episodes. According to the show's director Sun Yaoning, the show will be performed for around 6,000 people at the theater.

"Retired American soldiers from 88 to 108 years old, all of whom experienced the World War II will also be invited to perform with Chinese artists with a wish for peace," said Sun.

Last month the show was also successfully presented at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing on President Xi Jinping's national banquet for the visiting foreign heads.With a history of more than 1,000 years, traditional drum art from Jiangzhou County, Shanxi Province is an intangible cultural heritage in China.

The drummers are hailed for using all parts of the drum to make a variety of sounds.Quan Junmin, director of Shanghai Academic Drum House said that they have performed worldwide over the passing years. In the near future they plan to establish an art center to preserve and innovate traditional Chinese drum art.
