City’s tourist attractions teeming with holiday activities

Scenic spots and parks across the city will host a number of events during the National Day holiday, the Shanghai Tourism Administration said today.

Chocolate Happyland will feature Italian chocolate and wedding culture exhibitions from October 1-5. There will be lectures about the history of chocolate and how it’s made along with a tasting event. Happyland will also launch a children’s painting competition.

Shanghai Ocean Aquarium has introduced an underwater robot to greet visitors during the holiday. Underwater robots are mainly used on ocean exploration missions. It’s the first time an aquarium in China will display an underwater robot. Electronic screens will show visitors what the robot sees and it will also interact with divers.

A sleepy sponge crab will be at the aquarium during the holiday, giving people another reason to visit. It’s the world’s largest species of sponge crab.

A butterfly exhibition featuring about 30 species will take place at Shanghai Zoo during the holiday. Visitors will also be able to make butterfly bookmarks during the event.

Shanghai Botanical Garden will host a flower exhibition, mainly comprising chrysanthemums and sweet-scented osmanthus. Children may be interested in the garden’s dinosaur display during the holiday.

Also, Chenshan Botanical Garden in Songjiang District will host 10 concerts, a sunflower exhibition and a rare vegetable and fruit display during the holiday.
