Clooney stops in Shanghai to promote ‘Tomorrowland’

AMERICAN film star George Clooney was in town today to promote his new sci-fi adventure film "Tomorrowland." The highly anticipated Disney film directed by Brad Bird will hit cinemas across the Chinese mainland on May 26, four days after its release in the United States.
Clooney, known as one of the most handsome men in the world and one of the sexiest stars of all time, is visiting Shanghai, a city he referred to as stunning, for the second time.

Clooney has won three Golden Globe Awards. He has also won two Academy Awards, one for best supporting actor in “Syriana” and another as a producer of “Argo,” which won best picture.

In “Tomorrowland,” Clooney plays a grumpy scientist who, along with a curious teen girl embarks on a mission to unearth the secrets of a fantastic futuristic world somewhere in time and space.

Clooney said the role suited him as Bird had written it specifically for him.

"The character is a middle-aged angry guy, and I didn't have to do anything," he said, joking.

Clooney said he agreed to do this movie because he wanted to work with Bird.

"I also like the film idea that the future is not inevitable or fixed," he added.
