College student jumps to death in Pudong

A college student jumped to his death from a building at Shanghai Industry and Commerce Foreign Language College in the Pudong New Area this morning.
School authorities said the student, surnamed Sun, was a freshmen majoring in Spanish. He jumped from the fifth floor of the No.1 Teaching Building at about 7:45am.
Witnesses said Sun was looking at his cellphone in the corridor when he suddenly threw it on the ground. He then climbed up the balcony and jumped off. They said Sun moved too quickly to stop him.
He landed in a grassy area in front of the building.
Sun was announced dead at a nearby hospital due to severe injuries. Police are still investigating the case.
