Communities offer health services on hepatitis

SHANGHAI Center for Disease Control and Prevention kicked off a chronic viral hepatitis public education program through cooperation with Shanghai Pilot Health Promotion Center over the weekend, when National Liver Caring Day fell.

Under the program, experts will give over 100 lectures about hepatitis at communities and the city becomes the first in the nation to offer community-based patient management including health checkup, disease inspection, medication guidance and consultation at neighborhood health centers.

So far, 27 communities have started pilot trial, which will further expand. There were 1.274 million new hepatitis case reported in China last year including 1.076 million new hepatitis B cases.
