Company appeals
CHINA Unicom appealed to the Shanghai No.1 Intermediate People's Court yesterday after it was ordered to pay 20,000 yuan (US$3,176) to a Chinese artist who claimed his paintings were reproduced on a batch of phone cards issued by the domestic telecommunications giant.
The 74-year-old painter, Dai Dunbang, said China Unicom infringed the copyright of his artworks by illegally printing them on the phone cards without his approval.
