Congress to focus on innovative growth
INNOVATION-DRIVEN growth and economic restructuring will be two key themes at the congress of the Communist Party of China Shanghai Committee that opens today at the Expo Center.
Some 810 delegates elected from the city's 1.82 million Party members will hear a report this morning by the current CPC Shanghai Committee on its work in the past five years. The report will be delivered by Shanghai Party Secretary Yu Zhengsheng.
"The report will be a comprehensive summary of our works in the past five years," said Ding Xuexiang, secretary-general of the CPC Shanghai Committee. "It is based on a lot of field studies and will provide priceless experience for the Party's future construction and the city's further development."
The report will cover a wide range of aspects, including new goals, economic growth, politics, culture, social development and Party construction, Xue said.
To better serve their responsibility, delegates are encouraged for the first time to deliver proposals to improve the works of the Party. At least 70 proposals are expected, said Feng Xiaomin, deputy director at the organization department of the CPC Shanghai Committee.
More working professionals, employees, women and ethnic minorities will be among the delegates to join the session.
