Contest invites smart ideas for biz start-ups

SHANGHAI launched a business plan contest today as it strives to create more jobs by fostering small and micro-sized enterprises.

The contest, the first such held by the Shanghai Human Resources and Social Security Center, is inviting local and out-of-town applicants to submit business plans for starting their own businesses in Shanghai.

The center said more people want to start their own business than two years ago. A survey showed that nearly 8 percent of Shanghai residents now run a start-up and another 12 percent plan to follow their suit.

The contest organizer also welcomes small and micro-sized businesses founded in the past 18 months to join the contest and show their business ideas to venture capital companies and win investment.

Applicants can download the application form at www.12333sh.gov.cn/cyfw and email the filled form and their business plans to chuangyedasai_sh@163.com before November 18.

The first-prize winner will be awarded 20,000 yuan (US$3,197) and all the 10 finalists will receive guaranteed loans, business venues, investment and expert guidance, the center said.
