Contest reveals students lack skills
THE English writing skills of local students need to be improved, an ongoing students' English writing contest jointly organized by Shanghai Daily and Xinmin Evening News revealed.
The contest organizers have so far received 83 entries from local high schools, undergraduates and postgraduate students. Only 16 entries are suitable to advance to the next round of competition.
Advanced work must have no more than six spelling or four grammatical errors.
Students can apply to enter the contest until July 10. One hundred entries will be selected to enter the finals, which will begin in mid-August.
Each winner will get a certificate and a prize.
