SHANGHAI police have caught eight members of two gangs that stole cameras and mobile phones from visitors at Expo Park.
An undercover police squad was launched last September specialized in fraud, robbery, drug trafficking and pickpockets. They have been operating at Expo Park since the World Expo started on May 1, Xinhua news agency reported today.
The latest bust was around 3pm on Saturday after an officer saw a man wandering around with a camera but not taking pictures.
Police caught him when he tried to steal a camera from a visitor.
Police later caught two of his partners and seized four cameras, nine lenses and 10 mobile phones they had stolen.
The suspects told police they had robbed 10 people in three days.
