Copter fights fires

SHANGHAI will receive its first heavy firefighting helicopter from a Russian manufacturer in June to enhance its ability to fight fires in high-rise buildings, local police said yesterday. The Russian-made Ka-32, a cutting-edge professional firefighting helicopter, will be handed over to the Aviation Force of the Shanghai police, a senior official with the Shanghai Public Security Bureau told local lawmakers. The city currently has four choppers in service.
