Court in the act
A MOCK court was set up in the EU Pavilion yesterday where Chinese and European experts simulate enforcement proceedings in a patent infringement case.
The simulation was to raise awareness of an agreement signed in 2007 by the European Commission and the Chinese government aimed at improving the effectiveness of intellectual property rights enforcement in China.
"To better build the awareness of the importance of intellectual property protection is why we are holding this mock court," said Tian Lipu, commissioner of the State Intellectual Property Office.
Comprising a judge, a counsel, a plaintiff, a defendant and witnesses played by patent experts from Europe and China, the case concerned a German pipe clamp manufacturing company bringing a lawsuit against a Chinese company suspected of infringing the German company's patent.
