Crackdown nets 8 illegal taxi drivers in Pudong
CITY taxi watchdog nabbed eight cabbies for allegedly scamming customers at a major transit Metro station in Pudong yesterday.
These cabbies usually preyed on foreign visitors arriving at the Longyang Road Station by the Maglev line from the Pudong International Airport, officials said.
One cabbie tempered his taximeter and would charge 200 yuan for a 15-kilometer trip because it appeared to be 55km on his taximeter.
Yesterday's crackdown followed a fruitless raid last week at the same station due to an insider's tip-off to the illegal drivers.
