Crowds set to flock to Saudi pavilion again

THE most popular pavilion during the World Expo 2010 has lost none of its appeal, as the 14,000 tickets for the Saudi Arabia Pavilion on the day it reopens have almost sold out.

However, the pavilion is only open to group visitors, in a bid to avoid the huge crowds - and nine-hour queues - it attracted last year, a pavilion official said.

The pavilion will reopen next Wednesday with standard tickets priced at 60 yuan (US$9.40) for weekdays and 80 yuan for weekends, the pavilion's operator said yesterday.

Ticket for festivals, such as the National Day holiday beginning on October 1, will cost 100 yuan.

It will open from 9am to 6pm, except on Mondays.

Initially at least, people must apply to 17 designated travel agencies and visit in groups.

Last year, more than 90 percent of Expo visitors had no chance to visit the pavilion due to demand.
