Cruise enmeshed in fishing nets off Shanghai
A Star Cruises ship, stranded in the East China Sea due to power failure on Saturday, was towed to Shanghai Wusong Port this morning. All its passengers and crew are safe.
SuperStar Gemini, which was heading for South Korea, had its propellers entangled by fishing nets and got stuck at the mouth of the Yangtze River on Saturday afternoon. There were 437 tourists and 1,011 crew members on board.
A rescue ship arrived yesterday afternoon and it took 12 hours to tow the cruise ship to the Wusong Port in Baoshan District, authorities said.
Star Cruises said all passengers left the ship safely in the morning and each passenger would get a refund.
