Cruise to nowhere from January
TWO no-destination cruises will be trialed next month from Shanghai’s North Bund, according to a report.
The one- and two-night trips will be on HNA Tourism’s “Henna” cruise ship, which can accommodate 1,965 people in 739 rooms, the China Cruise & Yacht Industry Association and Shanghai International Shipping Institute said.
The report did not describe what activities will be offered on the cruises or say how much they cost, but claimed they will be popular with families.
Though the trips will not have a destination, as they enter international waters all passengers will be required to have a valid passport.
In March, Costa Cruises is scheduled to launch a round-the-world cruise from Wusong Port. It will be the first of its kind to start in China.
South Korea and Japan will remain the favorite destinations for Chinese tourists next year, with 4 to 6-day trips the most duration due to Chinese people’s spending power and limited holidays, the report said.
