Dad suffering depression sought for child's murder
A two-year-old child was found dead in her home early yesterday morning and her father, who is missing and suffering from depression, is alleged to be the murderer.
Witnesses said the toddler was found dead and hanging from a rope in her home on Laiyang Road in the Pudong New Area.
Her 28-year-old father, surnamed Lu, has been missing since the accident happened. Lu is the prime murder suspect since he was allegedly the only person at home with the girl on the night she died.
"She was very lovely. We all liked her very much," said an unnamed neighbor.
Lu, a local resident, is believed to have suffered from serious depression and stayed at home for the past four months on extended sick leave.
According to neighbors, Lu's parents always followed him when he took strolls around the community.
"He was quite emotional these days," said the neighbor.
The girl's mother was not at home that night as she had to attend to an urgent event and Lu's parents refused to talk about their son.
Lu left his mobile phone at home and no one knows where he has gone to.
Some residents said they saw Lu driving his car out of the community the day before the accident. A security guard said Lu looked normal when he drove away.
Police are still investigating the case.
