Delays hit bullet train to Beijing

EQUIPMENT glitches hit the busy Beijing-Shanghai high-speed railway line yesterday, leading to delays for some train service.
Passengers' complaints mounted as the bullet train reported a series of long delays caused by various problems in the past week.
In yesterday's incident, problems first reported at noon at the railway's Zaozhuang Station triggered breakdowns along the route, said the railway operator.
The operator reported nine trains had been delayed from 50 minutes to 110 minutes on the line as of yesterday afternoon after the glitches were fixed.
Long delays were seen on the railway on July 7 and again on July 11 because of equipment problems. But the operator did not disclose details on what caused the incidents.
The rail line opened one year ago in June and it has handled more than 7.6 million passengers.
The railway authorities said there are more than 150 train trips between Beijing and Shanghai each day.
