Dense fog shrouds Shanghai; highways closed

DENSE fog this morning shrouded big parts of Shanghai this morning. Some expressways were forced to close.
Shanghai Meteorological Bureau issued a red alert for fog before 7:30 am, the highest of the three-scale system.
Expressways, including Shanghai-Jinshan expressway and Shanghai-Hangzhou Expressway, were forced to close.
By 8:20am, visibility in Songjiang District was only 70 meters, Minhang and Qingpu 100 meters, Fengxian 200 meters and Jinshan 600 meters.
Other districts' visibility ranged from 1,000 meters to 5,000 meters by 8:20am.
