HUANGPU District police have detained three suspects for stealing diamonds worth 215,200 yuan (US$31,500) from a Yuyuan Garden jewelry store and a Cartier shop on Nanjing Road, police said yesterday.
Officials said the thieves fooled staff in the shops by deliberately dropping the diamonds and then swapping them with fake stones.
