Disaster siren ready for trial

SHANGHAI would for the first time trial a disaster-prevention siren around the city on Saturday next week, authorities said yesterday.
The siren will sound in all districts except around Pudong and Hongqiao airports. The disaster siren will ring for six seconds and stop for six seconds from 11:40am. The all-clear siren will sound continuously for three minutes from noon. The siren is used to predict events like typhoons, floods and chemical accidents.
