Dispute leads to discovery of foreigner's illegal stay
A TRAFFIC dispute has proved costly for a foreigner after it led to police discovering he had outstayed his visa in China.
The foreigner, who was not identified by police, is in detention, today's Shanghai Morning Post reported.
Putuo District police were alerted on Sunday morning that a foreigner was having a dispute with others over traffic issues in the Caoyang area.
Police arrived on the scene and managed to mediate an agreement between the two parties.
But when officers asked the foreigner to show identification, he failed to produce any. Police later checked with the city's entry-exit bureau department and found the foreigner had outstayed his visa.
