Doctors remove scissors from boy's head

Shanghai Children's Hospital says they have successfully removed a pair of scissors from the head of a three-year-old boy who was rushed all the way to Shanghai from Jiaxing City in neighboring Zhejiang Province last night.

The boy received an emergency surgery last night. "So far, he is in stable condition and no pathological consequence of his head injury has been detected," says Yang Xiaodong, a hospital official.

The parents said the boy was standing on a chair while playing with the scissors yesterday. He suddenly fell from the chair and the scissors stabbed into his right face.

He was first sent to a nearby hospital and then transferred to the Jiaxing No. 2 Hospital at 5pm.

The Jiaxing hospital gave the boy a CT scan and found a scissor blade has entered the boy's brain. The doctors suggested the boy be sent to the Shanghai Children's Hospital which is capable of complex surgery.
