Driver detained

AN illegal driver has been detained after dragging a police officer on January 26 to escape checks near a long-distance bus station, Shanghai rail police said yesterday. The driver, surnamed Xu, drove for about 2,000 meters while the officer, Lu Guoquan, rode on the hood and held onto the wipers. He wasn't injured.
