Driver hits teen boy and tosses him in bushes
POLICE are seeking a hit-and-run driver after a boy was knocked unconscious by a car in Songjiang District.
The boy, 14, sustained serious bone fractures and is still in intensive care, police said yesterday.
The boy woke up lying in some bushes along the roadside hours after being hit by a car last Friday. He crawled back home and lost consciousness again after telling his parents he was hit by a vehicle, the boy's father said.
The boy was playing alone in the community along Huting Road N. at 10:50am when he was hit by the car.
According to his father, the boy said he felt the driver pick him up and throw him into the bushes beside the road before he lost consciousness. He woke up about 3pm and crawled home.
"When I opened the door, I was shocked because my son was lying on the ground," the father said. "His face was pale and his body was trembling while trying to knock on the door."
He said he and his wife felt anxious when they could not find their son at a nearby Internet cafe, supermarkets and basketball court. At the accident scene, bushes had been flattened where the boy was left by the driver.
Police said there was no surveillance camera near the scene but they have begun checking videos from the cameras at the entrance of the apartment complex where the family lives.
